A. Lesic et al., RADIOLOGICAL PICTURE OF THE KNEE AFTER RECONSTRUCTION OF THE ANTERIORCRUCIATE LIGAMENT IN THE DOG, Acta veterinaria, 44(5-6), 1994, pp. 357-363
The authors investigated the radiological picture of the knee in dogs
after reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) with carb
on fibers or fascia lata autograft. The allografts were inserted to re
place the ACL according to the modified technique of Jones (Patsama) w
ith autografts or by intraarticular placement of a carbon ligament pro
thesis as recommended by the manufacturer. The radiological picture wa
s evaluated after 1, 2, 4 and 6 months. No marked degenerative changes
, were found and the tunnel was not replaced by bone tissue. In this e
xperiment, there was no radiological evidence for the superiority of t
he carbon fiber prothesis over autograft tissue as a substitute for th
e ACL in the experimental model of the dog.
