The kinetic regularities of butylaminolysis of p-nitrophenylmethyl car
bonate in solvents of various nature and polarity are studied. The rea
ction was found to proceed with the participation of monomeric, dimeri
c, and trimeric amine forms; the contributions from diverse routes to
the observed rate constant depend on the nature of the solvent It is e
stablished that the reaction rate is primarily controlled by the elect
ron-donor ability of the solvent involved.
