Ak. Guskov et al., KINETICS AND MECHANISM OF THE BASE-CATALYZED REACTION OF ACETIC-ACID WITH EPOXIDES, Kinetics and catalysis, 35(6), 1994, pp. 806-809
The kinetic regularities of ethylene oxide and epichlorohydrin interac
tion with acetic acid in the presence of bases are studied. An equatio
n describing the dependence of the acetate catalytic activity on the i
onic radius of a cation is derived. The mechanism of the chromium(III)
acetate-catalyzed reaction is shown to be different from those of the
reactions catalyzed by alkali metal or tetraalkylammonium acetates. A
mathematical model for the process catalyzed by chromium(III) acetate
is considered.
