Abstract
A dialkyne species is found to be the primary product of Cu(I) and Ag( I) methylacetylide oxidation with copper halides, while the oxidation of Hg(II) methylacetylide yields a haloalkyne entity as a primary prod uct. Various oxidants are arranged in a series by relative reactivity in the reactions involving Cu(I) and Ag(I) methylacetylides. The mecha nism for the oxidative transformations of metal alkynyl complexes is d iscussed.
