A VARIABLE-BIT-RATE BURIED-DATA CHANNEL FOR COMPACT DISC

Recently an elegant method was published to add buried data to a CD si gnal in a compatible way. This method is based on subtractively dither ed noise shaped quantization and provides a fixed-rate buried-data cha nnel. An adaptive extension to this method, resulting in a variable ra te of higher average value, is described.
