The process of electrochemical dissolution of magnesium alloyed with m
ercury and of an MA-2 magnesium alloy in solutions of hydrochloric, pe
rchloric, and sulfamic acids over the range of concentrations 0.25-2.0
0 M was studied using be means of chronopotentiometry and voltammetry.
It was shown that the coefficient of magnesium utilization varies ove
r an extremely wide range depending on the concentration of the acid,
and also changes greatly as the electrolyte becomes enriched in magnes
ium ions.
