Im. Davletbaeva et al., INTERACTION OF IRON HALIDES WITH AROMATIC ISOCYANATES IN ORGANIC-SOLVENTS, Russian journal of applied chemistry, 67(2), 1994, pp. 229-232
The interaction of iron halides with aromatic isocyanates was studied
using gel permeation chromatography and Mossbauer spectroscopy. In ace
tone solution, iron(II) and (III) halides are shown to exist in the fo
rm of both mononuclear and polynuclear compounds. In the reaction with
aromatic isocyanates, halide ions (terminal and bridging) are substit
uted by isocyanate groups. As a result, polynuclear complexes are form
ed: 2FeBr2.TDI, 2FeBr2.3TDI, 4FeBr2.4TDI, 6FeBr2.2TDI, 4FeCl3.2TDI, 2F
eCl3.TDI, and 2FeCl3.2TDI, where TDI is toluene-2,4-diisocyanate.
