The chromatographic behavior of some cations and anions has been exami
ned on sorbent layers prepared from binary mixtures of different ratio
s of alumina, silica gel, and cellulose developed with aqueous methano
l containing tri-n-butyl phosphate and formic acid. Some binary and te
rnary separations realized on mixed beds were not possible on single-c
omponent layers. The results obtained on plain silica gel, alumina and
cellulose have been compared with those obtained on mixed sorbents. M
o6+ has been separated from VO2+, Th4+, and W6+ at different pH values
. The effect of the amount of Mo6+ on its separation has also been inv
estigated.
