Abstract
Creative silvicultural prescriptions and timber harvest can achieve at tractive scenic character throughout a travel corridor. Viewsheds-the view of a landscape from a single point such as an overlook, camp, or picnic grounds-can display the cumulative effects of timber harvest an d management activities and provide attractive landscapes for human en joyment. Viewsheds and corridor viewsheds-a series of views along a ro ad, trail, or waterway-are special places for visitors and residents. People know and relate to them by name and through memories of previou s visits. Viewsheds are unique and important because they can be manag ed as a sequence of interrelated spaces-the way visitors experience th em.
