Ml. Keen et Fa. Gotch, PERITONEAL FUNCTION-TEST AS A BASIS FOR ASSESSMENT OF ADEQUATE THERAPY AND FOR UREA KINETIC MODELING, Nieren- und Hochdruckkrankheiten, 23, 1994, pp. 141-143
The interest in quantification of peritoneal dialysis therapy for corr
elation of the dose with clinical outcomes led to the development of t
he Peritoneal Function Test (PFT). The test requires sampling from ind
ividual drained dialysate exchanges over a 24-hour period, as well as
a urine collection and blood sample at the end of the collection. This
allows the calculation of a variety of patients, peritoneal and renal
characteristics as well as compliance with the peritoneal dialysis pr
escription. The reliability of the test was demonstrated with duplicat
e measurements. The variance in creatinine generation between predicte
d and the actual measured value indicated that compliance with the per
itoneal dialysis prescription may be less than assumed.
