Abstract
Solid - liquid mass transfer characteristics of fixed beds of Raschig rings were studied by measuring the rate of diffusion-controlled disso lution of copper rings in acidified chromate solution. Variables studi ed were ring diameter, physical properties of the solution and flow ra te of the solution. The data were correlated for the conditions 825< S c< 1510, 5<Re< 246< and 0.6cm<d<1.2 cm by the equation. J = 2.26 RE(-0 .57) A comparison was made between the mass transfer behavior of beds packed with Rasching rings and beds packed with other packing geometri es.
