Abstract
We translated the Helping Alliance Questionnaire (HAQ) published by Lu borsky (1984) into German language for the purpose of evaluating its s uitability within the scope of inpatient psychotherapy. The Questionna ire is made up from 12 questions concerning the perceived therapeutic relationship and the therapeutic process can be answered as well by th e patient as by the therapist. Analyses of this questionnaire (patient s' form) pointed to two inherent factors: ''relation to the therapist' ', and ''satisfaction with therapeutic outcome''. This division into t wo sections, which is incompatible with the division suggested by Lubo rsky, is evaluated by means of classical test theory. The empirical pa rt of the study is dedicated to proof the construct validity of these two factors, and their relation to well-known psychometric tests is di scussed. In summary, we propose this questionnaire to be an interestin g and promising tool for the evaluation of the therapeutic process, wh ich can be easily applied in the clinical routine.
