Abstract
Multiple neurofibromatosis, von Recklinghausen's disease, is a rare di
sease of the neurilemmal cells. It is an inherited disorder transmitte
d as a mendelian dominant and characterized by multiple subcutaneous r
umours and cafe-au-lait spots. The first time its symptoms were descri
bed was by Smith in 1849.
