Jy. Wu et al., A COMPARISON OF ANISOTROPIC PML TO BERENGERS PML AND ITS APPLICATION TO THE FINITE-ELEMENT METHOD FOR EM SCATTERING, IEEE transactions on antennas and propagation, 45(1), 1997, pp. 40-50
The use of an anisotropic material for the boundary truncation of the
finite element method is considered, The anisotropic material properti
es can be chosen such that a planewave incident from free space into t
he anisotropic halfspace has no reflection, Because there is no reflec
tion, the material is referred to as a perfectly matched layer (PML).
The relationship between the anisotropic PML and the original PML prop
osed by Berenger [2] is considered, The anisotropic PML is applied to
the finite-element solution of electromagnetic (EM) scattering from th
ree-dimensional (3-D) objects, Numerical results are presented to demo
nstrate the accuracy of the PML.
