Abstract
Hexakis(dimethyl sulphoxide)mercury(II) trifluoromethanesulphonate, [H g(dmso)(6)](O3SCF3)(2), is a stable, readily synthesized compound whic h is an excellent standard for setting up CP/MAS experiments in solid- state Hg-199 NMR. The isotropic chemical shift, delta(iso) -2313 ppm, is to lower frequency than that measured for the same material in solu tion. The static spectrum exhibits of powder pattern indicative of axi al symmetry about the mercury atom, with a chemical shift anisotropy o f 122 ppm.
