Abstract
It is recognized that effective quality control procedures are essenti al if analysis is to produce data that are fit for their purpose. This paper outlines the practical approaches to quality control, The contr ol of random error using replication of analysis is described. Differe nt types of reference materials are discussed as a means of controllin g systematic error.
