S. Heron et al., ANALYSIS OF TRIACYLGLYCEROLS OF BORAGE OIL BY RPLC IDENTIFICATION BY COINJECTION, Journal of liquid chromatography, 18(3), 1995, pp. 599-611
Borage oil is an interesting oil because it is rich in gamma linolenic
acid (gamma Ln 18:3 Z6, Z9, Z12). However, since triacylglycerol stan
dards with gamma Ln chains do not exist, there is a problem identifyin
g these particular triacylglycerols. Because the hyphenated techniques
(GC-MS, LC-MS) do not give sufficient resolution for unequivocal iden
tification, an easier methodology is described here. It consists of us
ing another oil of known composition as a standard mixture. Use of thi
s method is shown for the assignment of triacylglycerols in borage oil
.
