Abstract
The products obtained from gasification of Saskatchewan lignite have b een identified quantitatively and the amount of energy that would be p roduced from their combustion has been calculated. The amount of carbo n dioxide produced during combustion has also been calculated. On the basis of these results the gasification of one tonne lignite would pro duce approximately 2.2 x 10(5) cubic meters of gaseous products (at ST P) which when burned would release 2.3 x 10(6) kcal (9.6 x 10(6) kJ) o f energy and produce about 0.75 tonne of carbon dioxide.
