Py. Moalic et al., IDENTIFICATION OF 2 PATHOGENIC AVIAN MYCOPLASMAS AS STRAINS OF MYCOPLASMA-PULLORUM, International journal of systematic bacteriology, 47(1), 1997, pp. 171-174
Two mycoplasma strains were isolated from dead turkey embryos. Growth
properties, biochemical and serological characteristics, and protein p
rofiles indicated that these strains were closely related to Mycoplasm
a pullorum CKKT (T = type strain). This was confirmed by 16S rRNA sequ
ence analysis, and the phylogenetic position of M. pullorum was establ
ished. Pathogenicity studies showed that the two strains, as well as M
. pullorum CKKT, induced a statistically significant level of mortalit
y after innoculation into chicken embryos.
