Abstract
A method is presented for the pressure drop calculation during the flo w of a Newtonian fluid through granular beds based on an analogy with a fluid pipe flow. Aspects affecting problems of flow around particles are considered simultaneously. The usefulness of this method has been verified experimentally in the flow of both incompressible and compre ssible fluids through beds of spherical and non-spherical particles.
