Abstract
The appropriate specification of boundary conditions is the main diffi culty in the finite element solution of the streamfunction-vorticity e quations for two-dimensional incompressible laminar flows. In this con text, we show that the appropriate specification of both the outflow a nd the inflow boundary conditions is required for the successful model ling of two well known test problems.
