This paper describes the discrete simulation of an inverter-fed synchr
onous motor drive using the transmission-line modelling (TLM) method.
The TLM approach enables the drive model to to developed without setti
ng up any differential equations. Comparison of the TLM and Runge Kutt
a 2nd and 4th order methods shows that TLM method is more efficient in
terms of model derivation and computing time. Examples of simulations
are included and they agree well with measurements.
