Jc. Fu et al., MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES OF THE COMPOSITES S IC 2124 AND SIC/8090 SUBJECT TO HIGH-SPEED AND HIGH-TEMPERATURE TORSION AND TENSION/, Journal de physique. IV, 4(C8), 1994, pp. 219-224
The static and dynamic behaviour of two metal-matrix (Al-Cu 2124 and A
l-Li 8090) composite materials, reinforced by particulate SiC have bee
n studied under torsion and tension in the temperature range 25 to 550
degrees C. All the dynamic tests are based on the SHPB technique. The
tests show that the strain rate has an obvious influence on the maxim
um deformation and a smaller influence on the strength at fracture for
the two materials. For temperatures lower than 250 degrees C, the str
ength and the ductility remain almost constant. They decrease at high
temperature (>250 degrees C). The effects of strain rate and temperatu
re on the behaviour is same for both tension and torsion.
