Ms. Akhter et al., MICELLE FORMATION IN MOLTEN ACETAMIDE, Colloids and surfaces. A, Physicochemical and engineering aspects, 94(2-3), 1995, pp. 173-176
The electrical conductivity of four surfactants, sodium caprylate, sod
ium laurate sodium palmitate and sodium stearate in molten acetamide h
as been determined at 90 degrees C. Conductivity measurements show tha
t micelles are formed in acetamide solution. Critical micelle concentr
ation (CMC) has been determined for each of the surfactants. It is sug
gested that the simplest formula of the ionic micelle is (S-)(n)(CH3CO
NH2)(x). At higher concentration the micelle may be of the forms (NaS)
(m)(S-)(n)(CH3CONH2)(x) where NaS denotes sodium stearate.
