The phase diagram of ternary system PrCl3-SrCl2-MgCl2 has been investi
gated by means of DTA. Four surfaces corresponding to the primary crys
tallization of PrCl3, SrCl2, MgCl2 and Sr3PrCl9 respectively, five uni
variant lines related to the secondary crystallization, ternary eutect
ic point E (25.0wt% PrCl3, 41.5wt% SrCl2, 33.5wt% MgCl2; 538-degrees-C
) and ternary peritectic point P (23.0wt% PrCl3, 43.5wt% SrCl2, 33.5wt
% MgCl2; 544-degrees-C) were found. The two reactions occurred in the
system are: L reversible PrCl3+Sr3PrCl9+MgCl2 L + SrCl2 reversible Sr3
PrCl9+MgCl2
