Abstract
Six membered rings of isopropylidene malonate derivatives were opened by aryl thiolate anions and aryl selenolate anions which were produced through reductive cleavage of diaryl disulfides and diaryl diselenide s with SmI2, and the substituted propenoic acid selenoaryl and thioary l esters were synthesized.
