Abstract
A comparison between the time-consuming freeze substitution Lowicryl H M 20 embedding procedure with the Epon embedding method for the immuno cytochemical detection of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) by means of a monoclonal antibody is described. The results indicate that the intracellular localization of the phospholipid and the effici ency of its identification are similar, opening the possibility of per forming the immunoreaction also on samples that are routinely processe d for pathological investigations.
