STARK-BROADENING AND SHIFT FOR ARII LINES

Stark widths and shifts of 20 ArII lines were measured in the range of electron densities from 0.74 to 2.03()10(17) cm(-3) and at temperatu res from 10880 to 13880 K. A wall stabilized cascade are with a channe l diameter of 4 mm was used as a light source. The plasma temperature was calculated from LTE plasma equations and also determined from a Bo ltzmann plot. The free electron density was derived from the Stark bro adening of H-beta and the relative intensity of continuum radiation. T he spectral lines of helium and argon plasma were used as reference po int for the ArII line-shift determinations. Our results are compared w ith other published experimental data.
