The SAC-B mission is being conducted by the Argentine Commission on Sp
ace Activities (CONAE) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administ
ration (NASA) from the United States of America. The spacecraft will c
arry a scientific payload integrated by two co-ordinated solar experim
ents to observe solar flares; an instrument to measure the X-ray time
profile of gamma-ray bursts and a spectrometer for the measurement of
the cosmic diffuse X-ray background. The SAC-B mission will use a low-
cost, small spacecraft which is being designed and will be constructed
in Argentina. The SAC-B is planned to be launched, using a NASA-provi
ded PEGASUS rocket, in December of 1994.
