Abstract
Ten new oleanane-type saponins, polygalasaponins I-X, along with two k nown saponins, bayogenin-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside and lobatoside B w ere isolated from the aerial part of Polygala japonica HOUTT. The stru ctures of these compounds were established on the basis of spectroscop ic and chemical evidence.
