The extraction of Th(IV) and UO22+ by a solution of TTA and HDEHP, res
pectively in toluene has been used to obtain stability constants of th
eir oxalate complexes at 298 K in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9M ionic strength (Na
ClO4) solutions. The complexes formed were the MOx, MHOx, MOx(2) and M
(HOx)(2) (M = Th, UO2) species. The values were analyzed by the Specif
ic Interaction Theory and agreed to I less than or equal to 3 M but re
quired an additional term for fitting at I > 3 M.
