Abstract
Three recent European performance assessments involving national HLW d isposal management programmes offered the opportunity to compare sorpt ion databases for similar crystalline rock-water and bentonite-porewat er systems. An additional sorption database for a granitic rock-water system is available for comparison, from the Canadian radioactive wast e management programme. The basis for deriving each database is discus sed together with the results from this comparison exercise. In genera l, the agreement between corresponding databases is good, although the re are limited or no experimental sorption data for a few elements, no tably Pd, Sn, and for reduced forms of Te and the actinides U and Np.
