Abstract
This paper offers two interpretations of the idea of situated-action b y showing how each one explores different research programs. The first one emphasizes both action understanding and social communication; re searche on interactive machines and CSCW are concerned by this approac h. The second one emphasizes both perception and spatial organization; everyday cognition, routines and situated automatons are now concerne d. The authors point out the limits of both interpretations and underl ine the informative role of artefacts in stabilizing environment.
