This study uses a phenomenological approach to investigate the nature
of outcomes of a parent education program. Eight female program partic
ipants were interviewed using questions designed to elicit stories abo
ut the nature of the parent education experience. The data were coded
thematically to determine program outcomes as experienced by the parti
cipants. Seven categories of outcomes emerged from the data. Transform
ative learning, as an overriding explanatory theme, encompassed the mo
re specific categories of parent education outcomes.
