Electrical conductivity (sigma) and thermopower (S) studies of polycry
stalline germanium-substituted lithium ferrites having different compo
sitions were made in the temperature range 400-1000 K. The composition
dependence of electrical conductivity and thermopower has been discus
sed. On the basis of the sign of the Seebeck coefficient, all the samp
les under investigation have been classified as n-type semiconductors.
Using the temperature variation of charge carrier concentration and m
obility, the conduction mechanism in these ferrites is suggested.
