The trihydrides [Cp(2)MH(3)] (M = Nb or Ta) react with diphosphines R(
2)P(CH2)(n)PR(2) (R = Me or Ph, n = 1 or 2) affording the monohydrides
[Cp(2)M(H){R(2)P(CH2)(n) PR(2)}]. The bimetallic dihydride [{Cp(2)NbH
}(2)(mu-dppp)] (dppp = Ph(2)P(CH2)PPh(2)) is obtained by reaction of d
ppp with [Cp(2)NbH(3)]. The complexes [Cp(2)M(H)(diphosphine)] (M = Nb
or Ta) are able to bind M'(CO)(4) fragments (M' = Cr, Mo or W) and le
ad to the dibridged complexes [Cp(2)M(mu-H)(mu-diphosphine)M'(CO)(4)].
