Ja. Hirsch et al., SMALL-CELL CARCINOMA OF THE ESOPHAGUS WITH REGRESSION AFTER COMBINATION CHEMOTHERAPY AND RADIATION-THERAPY, Canadian Association of Radiologists journal, 46(1), 1995, pp. 45-47
The authors present an unusual case of small-cell carcinoma of the eso
phagus, which manifested on double-contrast esophagography as an ulcer
ated submucosal mass. The lesion underwent dramatic regression after c
ombination chemotherapy and radiation therapy, which has occasionally
been used as an alternative to surgery in patients with this rare but
aggressive esophageal neoplasm.
