Abstract
We investigate the behavior of electrons in a small thin metallic ring that is set in rotation. Using Larmor's theorem, it is shown that per sistent currents are expected to occur in rotating mesoscopic rings, e ven in the absence of a magnetic field. The properties of these curren ts are briefly discussed. The non-classical behavior of the rotational inertia of the electrons is elucidated.
