Abstract
The fiber of Yucca originates from the meristem at the base of the lea f and increases by cell division and elongation. The cell wall thicken s by deposition of cytoplasmic materials as the fiber progresses towar d maturity. The fiber cells are young, thin walled at the leaf base an d mature, thick-walled at the apex.
