Abstract
Second-harmonic generation from a GaAs/AlAs vertical cavity fabricated on a (311)B GaAs substrate has been demonstrated. The experimental re sults and a theoretical analysis show that a GaAs/AlAs vertical cavity optimized both for efficient confine ment of the fundamental power an d for quasi-phase-matching can offer efficient second-harmonic generat ion.
