Studies of the effect of UV exposure in the presence of potential chro
mophores (pyridoxal phosphate and nicotinamide) on the intensity of ch
emiluminescence of polymorphonuclear leukocytes revealed a marked incr
ease of chemiluminescence by 12 and 21%, respectively, when preirradia
ted aqueous solutions of drugs were introduced in the model system. A
possible mechanism of the effect of endogenous photosensitizers in com
bination with selective phototherapy of psoriasis patients, leading to
inhibition of the proliferative activity of the epidermis, is discuss
ed.
