Abstract
Experimental studies of the effects of alpha-tocopherol and phenobarbi tal on the enzymatic activity in the system of cytochrome P-450, makin g use of the antipyrine test, revealed prolongation of antipyrine half life after administration of alpha-tocopherol and its shortening under the effect of phenobarbital. The results point to an inhibitory effec t of alpha-tocopherol and inductor activity of phenobarbital towards c ytochrome P-450 enzymes.
