Abstract
This paper describes ultrasound guided percutaneous ethanol treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which was introduced in 1985 as an alternative to surgical resection. Previous studies have reported the applicability of this technique to tumors less than 50 mm in diameter. In our own work, we have successfully treated tumors as large as 70 m m in diameter with very large volumes of absolute ethanol.
