Abstract
DNA replication in eukaryotic cells is initiated at sites in the DNA k nown as origins. Studies in yeast have identified a number of the gene s and proteins that may be involved in this process. In this review, w e concentrate largely on those genes or proteins that are required for initiation of DNA replication and for which there is some evidence fo r a role at origins.
