M. Sanada et al., METHOD OF ENHANCING WEAR-RESISTANCE OF CAM AND FOLLOWER SYSTEM IN ENGINE VALVE TRAIN, International journal of vehicle design, 16(1), 1995, pp. 29-41
Wear of the valve train area in low-speed operation becomes critical a
s engines become capable of high-speed and high-power performance. Thi
s paper describes the development of a design process to secure for th
e valve train a constant supply of lubricant film with particular emph
asis on maintaining optimum conditions of lubrication in the cam and f
ollower system. With this design process, a valve train made of ordina
ry materials can be designed to achieve an improved level of scuffing
resistance without reduction of maximum load capacity.
