Abstract
The effect of addition of dexamethasone and reduced glutathione to MK medium, in a concentration of 10(-3) Molar and 0.92 g/l, respectively, was evaluated. The post preservation corneal endothelial viability wa s assessed using light microscopy. Our results showed that the additio n of dexamethasone to MK medium increased the preservation time of dog cornea from 7 to 10 days and that reduced glutathione could further i ncrease the storage period to 12 days. It can be concluded that the ad dition of reduced glutathione to MK medium is an excellent means for i ntermediate term corneal preservation.
