Abstract
Macro-diversity is normally applied as diversity switching where two o r more base stations serve the same area, and control over the mobile is switched among them. In the Letter, this concept is extended to bas e station optimum diversity combining. Signal reception is shared by a ll stations reducing handover inside clusters.
