Abstract
The linear electro-optic effect in vacuum thermally poled silica fibre s is measured. A value of elecro-optic coefficient of 0.05pm/V is expe rimentally obtained. This value is about 25 times higher then previous ly reported in silica fibres and may be increased by optimising the po ling conditions.
