Abstract
In this paper, a non-linear axisymmetrical bending theory for a circul ar, planform, shallow, spherical, sandwich shell with a soft core unde r the action of uniform edge moments is constructed by means of calcul us of variations. An analytic solution for the critical buckling edge moment is obtained by use of Yeh Kai-yuan and Liu Ren-huai's modified iteration method [Bull. Sci. 2, 142 (1965)(in Chinese); Bull.
