Abstract
Isomeric cycloheptatrienols 1, 2 and 3 are found to undergo ketonizati ons as well as diazo-coupling reactions via three different pathways; experiments and ah initio calculations suggest that the 2-hydroxy grou p provides a small but effective stabilization effect on norcaradiene 11.
